Above the Storms on Wings of Forgiveness
When I think about forgiveness, I am reminded of an Eagle in a storm. The turbulence of a storm is powerful and destructive. However, God has given the eagle great strength in his wings. The eagle knows how to catch the updraft of the storm's turbulence and use it to help him soar out of danger. The eagle uses its enemy's own power to help him escape destruction.
I see unforgiveness metaphorically as a powerful storm that threatens our lives and tries to destroy us. Bitterness, anger, and unforgiveness are like the turbulence of the storm that threatens the eagle. They create a power of combustible updrafts that could definitely destroy us. The more unforgiveness, the more turbulence we experience. However, just like the eagle, God has given us a tool of great strength to help us overcome these threats. That tool is forgiveness.
On wings of forgiveness, we can harness the destructive turbulence of unforgiveness and soar above the storms that would otherwise destroy us. Through forgiveness, we negate the very power that the enemy meant for our destruction and turn it around for our benefit and Gods Glory.
"And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him that your Father in heaven may forgive your trespasses. -Mark 11:24
